BIRDWATCHING
Peru is one of the 17 megadiverse countries in the world and in that diversity the birds stand out for their immense variety and presence. This country has more than 1,880 species of birds, which represents almost 20% of the species on the entire planet.

Every year the number of people who love birds grows, and Oxapampa like other places in Peru grows as a destination for observers and ornithologists. Only within the Oxapampa Ashaninka Yánesha Biosphere Reserve (BIOAY) 855 species have been recorded, which is 45% of the birds in the whole country.
For that reason we say that Oxapampa is a bird paradise and a perfect place for birdwatching and photography.
Birdwatching in El Palmeral
Get to know our birds
More than 150 species of birds have been recorded in El Palmeral, 6 of which are endemic to Peru. It is an excellent sighting place both for people who are just getting into this wonderful hobby and for those who have experience.
During the activity we will walk observing birds along trails inside and outside the forest. We will visit some hot birdwatching spots. At the end we will have a snack at our viewpoint enjoying the landscape and the singing of the birds.
